Accompaniment and Support for Seriously Ill and Dying People
Since its opening in 1998, the Hamburg Leuchtfeuer Hospice has been located in a quiet courtyard in the vibrant St. Pauli district. The renovated, three-storey, and barrier-free historic building is a special place of refuge for people in the final phase of their lives. In this home, with its lovingly landscaped courtyard garden, our residents can shape this stage of life in a self-determined, dignified manner and according to their wishes.
The spirit of the house is defined by the people who live and work in our hospice. Illness, dying, death, and grief are not taboo subjects here. Warmth, care, closeness, love, and laughter shape daily life, standing alongside grief and farewells. Additionally, we stand for community and a needs-oriented approach: we are an open place for LGBTIQ*, post-migrant diversity, and for all people who come to us-regardless of whom they love, where they come from, who they are, or what they believe. (You can find out more in the Hamburg Leuchtfeuer mission statement.)
We offer eleven furnished single rooms in our hospice, which can be decorated with personal items upon request. All rooms have their own bathroom with shower, as well as a telephone, internet, and television. An elevator ensures mobility. The courtyard garden, the conservatory with its plants, the living room, and the dining room are places to meet and linger. The hall on the ground floor of our home can be used by all residents for private events, such as birthday parties. All meals are freshly prepared every day in our in-house kitchen.
