Aufwind – Psychosocial support for people living with HIV

You have HIV? You live in Hamburg? And you need support in your daily life?

Our team of experienced social workers is here by your side – for example if you’re afraid of losing your home, facing difficulties at work, or dealing with financial hardship. We also offer support if you’re feeling lonely or need help navigating public authorities.

Our aim is to empower you to make your everyday life feel safer, more independent, and more self‑determined again.

Who is the Aufwind service aimed at?

The Aufwind service is aimed specifically at people living with HIV who reside in Hamburg and are officially registered here.

Social support for people living with HIV is a service provided by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The relevant public authority covers the associated costs. During an initial consultation, we clarify together whether you meet the requirements – and here you can find your contact persons.

What kind of issues does Aufwind provide support with?

The team at Aufwind supports clients for at least six months. With our many years of experience, we help people regain control over their lives and work through challenges, such as:

  • Support during psychological crises — we accompany you through difficult life situations and help with reorientation and planning for the future
  • Assistance when housing or employment is at risk
  • Support with appointments at public authorities and medical visits
  • Shared social activities, visits to festivals or cultural events

You can find more information about our services on our homepage.
